Hoop Ambassador of the Month

Hoop Vitality is C.A.R.I.N.G. Hoops
Hoop Ambassador of the Month
Michele Finn is a Far Out Healin' Hoopin' Hottie Ambassador livin' in New Albany, Indiana, USA!!!

"It's hard to believe it was only a year ago April, that I bought my first hoop. Wow! There's been a whole lotta hooping going on." Mrs. Finn, of the great Midwest, bought Hoopnotica's mommy/daughter hoops combo and then Micheles kidsemailed us to ask for more! "Of course," we said... and Kevin and I sent her 5 hoops of all sizes, which she promptly gave away. But this special package took a while to get to her, because we were in the middle of making over 150 hoops for BodySculpt, a major kids' event in Brooklyn, NY that continues to get inner city youth hooping and participating in loads of other sports. If you're in the NYC area, this is the place to be this Saturday.

MicheleIn the mean time, she and I began a lovely and fruitful (not often you read that word, eh?) cyber friendship. With simple inspiring words back and forth, and guidance to Hooping.org's encyclopedia of. hoop links, Michele:

* Makes and donates oodles of hoops for her neighbors, school district and children's friends.
* Started a weekly hoop jam in her city and in attendance is the neighboring sweet heart of the Ellen DeGenerous show: Sierra.
* Toyed with at least 50 names for her new hoop group as seen on Tribe: Hoop Vitality.
* Teaches hooping regularly to locals.
* Recently took a 2 day workshop from The Hoop Path.

MiniMichele
(Michele is on the far right in a lavender tee and brown pants.)

She continues, "I can't wait to get back to quiet time with Chloe and Keeghan (her children) and get to work more on my hoop ambassador duties. I want to work on schools and women in their 40s+ that need to get out of their situations, whether it be heart disease or depression, and give them something that can help them focus on themselves. It's so important! I did create a project called C.A.R.I.N.G. Hoops. 'Counselors Are Resourceful Instructors Nurturing Growth'. I was hoping to have hoops to them this school year, but I may use it as a way to start next years school year right!

I better get some sleep. It gets so late..."

Michele is a little breath of inspiration and makes a life of exhalation. Thank you, Michele, for keeping it local.

Cheap LED hula hoops I found

So I just bought this LED hoop online on ebay, I've been watching this guy sell them on the cheap for about a month now and thought I would buy one and check them out

http://cgi.ebay.com/Multi-Colored-Lighted-LED-Hula-Hoops-RECHARGABLE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ15274QQihZ027QQitemZ400054490876QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVWQQsalenotsupported

on their website they go for $125 and the charger is like $30 and shipping is like $15

So, I'm pretty impressed with the price I got.

I got mine for $113 and I've been seeing a lot of the single colors go for $75!!!!!!!! THe hoops have 25 led lights in them, they are rechargeable, collapsible, and come with a charger.

Just thought I'd share the good deal with others

Not just another hoop shop

I've been hooping for awhile now. Hooping is super fun, but I sometimes come across experiences i know can be improved. I finally put some ideas into tangible solutions and started a hoop shop.

The first products are cushy hoops that minimize practice bruises, Hoop racks that solve hoop storage issue, and fur hoops that offer a flashy alternative to funky outfits. Please see www.hoophut.etsy.com and let me know what you think, any inquiries, comments or suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Today I had a training to attend in a low income neighborhood near a school that is connected to a church that I go to sometimes. (I know, long intro.)

I called the school and said, "Hey, I make hula hoops that are bigger and stronger than the kind from the toy store. Could I bring some for the kids?"

"That would be great!" the man said.

Today when I pulled up in the rain and walked to the school with the hoops over my shoulder, the front door opened and a little kid said, "Hey! You've got a lot of hula hoops!" And the kids in the front hall waiting out of the rain swarmed around me and the man I talked to on the phone came out of the office with a big grin. (EVERYONE smiles around hula hoops.) I handed them over and told him I would bring more.

"Thank you! Thank you!" the kids said as I walked back out into the rain.

I want every day to be World Hoop Day.

World Hoop Day Love

Sai Ram Los Angeles, I’d like to take a moment to express how this year’s World Hoop Day in L.A. went beyond Amazing. Thank You Thank You Thank You for an incredible event. I can barely find the words to convey the pure of heart experience this celebration amassed to be. However, I know this thank you will be a long one as all of us at Hoopadelic, on behalf of the WHD organization, have many to thank.

Our focus at Hoopadelic was to generate as much money as possible for the WHD organization so they would have the resources needed to do their wonderful work. We organized, outsourced and worked 24/7 to spread the word in a timely manner to provide participants with a party that would help us meet that goal, but what we envisioned seemed to pale in comparison to the true festivities and rewards We - all 40 hoopers and attendees - generated AS ONE. The donations flowed effortlessly as musical talent, equipment, time, energy, presence, cash, checks and many hoops made their way to this event; the hoops and money moved onto new homes and exchanged hearts and hands to fulfill a new mission.

The energy skyrocketed as the event manifested into a spirited celebration of luminary hoopbeings dancing for a great cause. Our intention to share the joys of hooping far surpassed any dollar amount we wished to raise, for what I felt on this day, and everyone I had the honor to meet and speak with felt, was, and still is, INCREDIBLE. The giving of time, energy, resources, Love, compassion to this great global cause turned out to be more than just a fundraiser for the children we held in our hearts, for the gifts we gave were given back to all of the participants ten-fold and that energy shot right through our hearts filled our core. Truly We were One when effortless giving can also become an intangible and unexpected receiving of the heart in ways that fill us tremendously like a glass of water overflowing with Love and hydrating all that it caresses.

Every dollar, ecstatic moment, act of kindness we shared simply by Being and dancing flowed to and from us in a pulsating high-vibrational whirling mass of LOVE LOVE LOVE. In essence all that we donated with the intention of serving children from the U.S. and around the world truly nourished the child in Us and elevated Us to be the amazing hooper that we are in service to Be.

For those who attended and plan to go to Burning Man this year, wasn’t this just a great pre-burn playground? Community was strong and giving as everyone contributed in more ways than one prior to, during and after the event. World Hoop Day 8.8.08 was truly a time of CONNECTING AND MANIFESTING INFINITE ONESS, LOVE AND LIGHT.

Just as we flow in our sacred hoopdance, this WHD event flowed and unfolded as perfectly as anyone could ask for. A sea of smiles, laughter, men, women, children, friends, family, lovers, whirling, twirling, tossing and DANCING -- with and without hoops! -- so magnificent it drew observers closer and closer to the Light until they eventually participated or later inquired, one latent hooper after the other, “what is it that all of you are doing today? It looks like so much fun!” YOU all made this impact in our community, our hearts and beyond. In short YOU ROCK!!!!!!! Yes, you rock hard. This was indeed a very special day. Thank you for the permanent smile...this 8.8.08 was unforgettable. Thank You for blessing the Eagle Rock Park and Recreation Center, the City of Los Angeles, the State of California, the US, the Continent, the Globe with your Vibrance!

---

Deepest Gratitude to...

Annie O’Keeffe, founder of World Hoop Day, for leading the way to happier children around the world!

Sunbyte for donating your time, energy and equipment to bring us great music and for your Awesome closing set that we All loved hoopdancing to. Thank you for All that You did to help make this event possible.

Disko Voltair for enthusiastically providing us with your incredible opening set of diverse music that was especially prepared just for the HOOPERS! Thank you for that special attention and Love. You rocked Us! And we appreciate you being there to help us set-up and break-down.

Bird Pick Tea & Herbs for mindfully hydrating us with freshly brewed specialty iced teas and hot herbs which were generously prepared to keep our spirits high and our bodies hydrated. Everyone agreed you are delicious.

Melissa Sperandeo, Silva from Oakland, Kurt from the High Sierra’s, Gail San Jose, Gisele and Livia for volunteering your time and energy in unpacking, setting-up and/or breaking down after the event. And Livia, for supplying the bubbles when our bubble machine went out! Your helpfulness allowed us to manifest a proper event, and we left no trace afterwards due to your attention to detail.

Stream, Fanny Lin, Melissa Sperandeo, Susanne Angelow thank you for all the delicious hot and cold foods and drinks. And to every hooper who brought the abundance of granola bars and fruits. THANK YOU ALL for not just nourishing us physically but for feeding us completely with your offerings and your presence.

I am celebrating WHD with my special new LOVE hoop that I crafted with sacred geometry artwork and intention. Tonight my local hoop community and I are gathering to co-create a hoop yoga circle and dance together. Thinking of you all today, and noticing that the summer Olympics start today - so significant since the Olympic logo is all circles. Considering all the attention that this brings to global politics and remembering what watching the Olympics meant to me as a kid, I contemplate the circle of life, the hoops of all the people, and how all our circles are intertwined into the great hoop of the universe. Spinning in love...co-creating change...celebrating the circles of life.

World Hoop Day Indianapolis, Live Music, Hoops and 2 Great Charites!!

Come out and spin with us tonight in Fountain Square at
Deano's Vino, 1112 Shelby Street, Indianapolis

The night starts at about 6:30

First up "The "original" Stringtown Pickers" of Indianapolis!

Then "Code Blue" out of North Vernon, Indiana!

Then we will spin out the sounds of "Metamora" previously from Oregon but now back in Indianapolis!

It’s a Free Event!

Local hoopers will be out to show off their skillz, and help newcomers get into the flow. You can also get information on classes and workshop possibilities in the surrounding areas.

There will hoops of all sorts and sizes to try out and some to buy. Or order as many hoops as you want.

At World Hoop Day Indianapolis on 08/08/08, we hope to collect hoops or donations for hoops to deliver to a local and a global charity.
_______________________________________________________
The World Hoop Day Mission:

Since 2007, World Hoop Day has been dedicated to bringing toy and dance hoops to underprivileged children living in extreme poverty and underdeveloped neighborhoods of our world. Founded by Annie O'Keeffe, World Hoop Day is a not for profit organization that uses a community-based approach to provide durable hoops that can bring joy to an otherwise devastating situation.

There are many aid organizations that provide food and medical relief, but what about the mental welfare of a child who grows up too quickly and hardly has a reason to smile, play or just be a child? (Quote from WorldHoopDay. com)

Out of Indianapolis this year the Mahanaim Mission in Barranquilla, Columbia will receive a portion of our collection. The Mahanaim Mission has been a project for local hooper, Sarah Blevins. She has traveled there twice in connection with The New Paradigm Church. Sarah plans travel independently, actually moving to that country for six months starting in March 2009 and will deliver our donation during that trip.
Information on past visits is available at:
http://www.npccindy.org/2007_missions_trip

As for our local charity The Julian Centers Shelter for Women and Children seemed like a perfect fit when I read the “special projects & needs” section on their website. The Julian Center will receive half of our collection. Safe shelter from an abusive situation can often be a matter of life or death for women and children. The Julian Center operates a secure shelter for victims of domestic violence where they receive emergency housing, counseling, and support services to assist them along the journey of recovery.

Special Projects & Needs: Toy Drive Children and adolescents arrive at the Shelter with very little and play helps them cope with being here. We are in need of toys and games appropriate for older kids, ages 8 - 17 years old. We could use board games, balls, other outdoor toys, cards, sketch pads, and anything else that older kids would find entertaining.
http://www.juliancenter.org/

Peace, Much Love and Hoops (of course)

Hey lovely ladies (and fellers)!
I just got a message from the guy who helps put on this festival, that is ironically scheduled the same day as World Hoop Day every year.
It looks like a blast and the line-up is great, AND it's close to a lot of you NC hoopers! If you don't have plans for World Hoop Day, you should definitely look into this and we can all celebrate World Hoop Day together!

Trinumeral is a 3-day camping, music and arts festival scheduled to take place from Friday, August 8th through Sunday, August 10th at Deerfield’s Amphitheater, in the Mills River community, close to the Asheville Airport. The retreat is a 940-acre family-owned tract of unspoiled wilderness offering camping, swimming, and hiking. Surrounding the ponds and two authentic cabins, apple orchards and rhododendrons cascade throughout the Queens Creek Mountains. Tent camping will be plentiful, with a secluded family camp ground set aside. Car camping and RV passes are also available at an additional cost.

Hello:
I'm new to this tribe but wow what a great idea!!! I just found hooping in March and absoutely love everything about it. I took Ryana's course in Baltimore in the begining of May and am going to teach a beginer course to some employees where I work who need to lose weight and have fun doing it! I just love getting into the hoop and losi9ng the cares of the day. I thought of the idea of finding a product to see (after seeing Annies great world hooping day stuff (love it) and doing something myself along with putting on an event in my home town. I live in West Virginia and no one here has heard of hooping. when someone sees me with my hoop they want to know why I'm carrying that big hula hoop around. my cafepress address is cafepress.com/allhooping.
Thanks
Rhonda

the following is my response to a lovely post about the laws of attraction....although i personally have not read the secret cover to cover, i have been consciously working with these principles for many years - being a fairly new to hOOping, it didn't take long to realize how hOOping creates & intensifies energies & hOOping with others even more so - strength in numbers - hOOping with intent is extraordinarily powerful & so while creating hOOps, i am working with specific colors, stones, & blessings as well - sitting in the hOOp to meditate also deepens the connection to the hOOp & the energy of intention, amplifying it even more thru the moving meditation of hOOping - here's a story....around the holidaze, i was invited to hOOp in a parade with a drum circle thinking we would be walking along hOOping in front of the float, stopping every so often to do alittle dancing - ha - wrong! the parade was moving so quickly, we practically had to run with our hOOps & no time for stopping to really connect with any of the hundreds of people watching along the route - about 1/2 way thru i realized that even in this hurried-ness, in my mind & heart i could still focus the love energy & send it out, even if quickly to only a few, & began to do exactly that - shooting out blessings with momentary direct eye contact, a smile, a wink, a peace sign, an open hand & all the while never letting the hOOp touch the ground for nearly 90 minutes! exhausting - or so you would think - but afterward, i was so charged up & full of joy that i hOOped in blissful gratitude for another hour! speaking of being gr8ful....thank you again lovely lady for this reminder & also opening the door for a generally reserved sister to share! peace to all....

Does anyone have contacts with organizations in Costa Rica that would be good to work with? I haven't started doing any research yet.. thought I'd poll the community first. Thanks!

Need help with a Calendar

Hi everyone,
does anyone have any good ideas about creating a schedule or calendar where people can upload their own info onto the WHD site about their 888 event?

Last year was hard updating it daily and even harder the closer it got. I would really like to have people be able to edit their event themselves with their name, contact info, url, time and location.

I know google calendar can do that, but it gets very tight and claustrophic. I was also thinking of adding a forum so people could list it there, but I really liked how it was categorized by continent and state. And trying to find something that is free is also a challenge, which google is.

Or if someone just wants to take over recording the times for everyone, that would be groovy too.
Please reply if you have any advice, thoughts, etc.
xo
ao

how cool is that? she's a very fun, young 67, & one tough old broad - last year when i first started hOOpin she was dying to try, but just recovering from a very difficult course of treatment for cancer & was quite frail - no sooner did she get a clean bill of health from that when she took a fall that broke her hip, & completely crushed the bones in her arm, which required surgery to pin it back together - yikes! anyhoooo, now she's all healed up, & fiesty as ever - drove over this morning to show me her new mazda miata, & announced that she was ready to hOOp - so hOOp we did! it only took her a couple tries, & she totally got it & was lovin it! of course she picked out a WonderWhirl to take home, & now she can't wait til hOOp nite in the park!

...I've had a vision...

On World Hoop Day 2008 (08/08/08) Let's have gatherings all across the nation trying to break the world record for number of people hulahooping at the same time.

...Let's make it reality...

According to the World Record Book...

Simultaneous Hula-Hooping
The record for simultaneous hula-hooping (minimum time: 2 minutes) is for 2,290 participants at Chung Cheng Stadium in Kaohsiung (Taiwan) on 28 October 2000

We can do this!!!

Who's with me?

Sign up NOW for the first Hoop Performance Study!

Friends, hoopers, countrymen.
This is your chance to play a role in making Hoop History!

Starting February 2, I will be conducting an 8-week pilot study called "Efficacy of Selected Exercises on Hula Hoop Performance". As a certified personal fitness trainer and avid hooper, I want to investigate which movements have direct carryover into improvement of hoop performance.

This is the first study of its kind. It will be invaluable in helping the hoop community as a whole to understand our art form more fully, and take our skills to the next level. Established art forms and sports like ballet and football have all gone through this stage of trial-and-error during their development to discover what REALLY works where the rubber meets the road. Now is our time to figure out exactly what it takes to step up our game and take it to the next level, beyond the obvious "practice makes perfect".

I plan to publish the results in a few hoop and fitness websites and
publications, as well as use them to develop a hoop-specific workout
routine.

This is not for money, it's a labor of love.

REQUIREMENTS:
- You must be in New York City from Feb 2 - March 29, or be able to
come here at least three times during the length of the study to record
your hoop progress
- You must be a regular hooper with at least 1 year experience
- You must be able to commit to performing one exercise in a prescribed
manner on your own, 3 times per week, for 8 consecutive weeks starting Feb 2
(no special equipment will be required)
- You must agree to stick with whatever hoop AND exercise routine you've been doing,
for the entire 8 weeks. In other words, if you now hoop twice a week, do yoga once,
and lift weights once, you need to stick with that exact routine for the whole 8 weeks,
without changing it. This is the only way to isolate the potential variables.

Really, it's almost no work on your part, and you help make a great contribution
to the progression of our craft.

I'd love to get at least 100 study participants by Feb. 2.
Please email me at hoopstudy@gmail.com to participate!

Be awesome,
Ted Brancu

First National Hooper's Conference!!!

Hoop Convergence ~ Friday April 11 - Wednesday April 16, 2008

Please join us for the very first national (hopefully International!) Hooper’s Conference -- The Hoop Convergence.

The Hoop Convergence is the bringing together of a wide variety of hoopers from all over the world to create a synergistic learning environment where we will address all aspects of hooping. There will be panel discussions and workshops with a variety of amazing teachers and hoopers from all over the United States.

The Convergence will be held in beautiful the Hooper Haven of Carrboro, NC. Everything in this wonderful town is in walking distance and already many local hoopers are opening their homes or offering camping on their property to visiting hoopers from all over the country. Make plans to join us now.

To learn more, volunteer, make suggestions or arrange for a place to stay, please join the tribe Hoop Convergence at: http://tribes.tribe.net/hoopconvergence

Here are some of the amazing workshops and activities that are confirmed as of right now:

HOOP SKILLS WORKSHOPS
Currently, Spiral, Revolva, Caroleeena and Jewels are all confirmed to teach. These workshops will teach a variety of hooping techniques, including hand work, footwork, bodywork and dance, as well as hooping specialties, such as street performance and twin hooping. There will be workshops appropriate to all skill levels and other classes will be added to the curriculum as they are confirmed. Workshop details are forthcoming.

YOGA, INJURY PREVENTION & HEALING
We will host an injury prevention discussion panel made up of yogis, hoopers, massage therapists and other body/mind workers and healers. Hopefully we will be able to offer a HoopYoga workshop as well.

COSTUME DESIGN and THEATER MAKE-UP WORKSHOPS
In addition to learning costume design and theater make-up, the Convergence will also include a trade circle, a costume swap, sewing and non-sewing methods for making/decorating costumes, pattern shares, and a discussion where we will share ideas about themes, hoopable clothing and info for creating fire safe costumes . If you stay for the entire week, there will be excursions to some kick ass thrift stores too! (Then, after the Convergence, you can try out your new threads at Shakori Hills the following weekend!)

COMMUNITY, SERVICE PROJECTS and WORLD HOOP DAY
There will also be a discussion panel on community building, event planning, service projects and World Hoop Day. Hoopin' Annie O, creator of World Hoop Day, Jewels, who created Hoops for Haiti, and Caroleeena, who started the Henrietta Jensen Outreach and Education Project in Jamaica are all confirmed and will all be available to help you envision and manifest your world hoop day events or community outreach projects. (Hopefully Xta will be able to make it also!)

FIRE
On Saturday night, we will have a drum circle and fire ceremony with fire dancing. If you haven't fire hooped before, this could be your moment! There will also be discussions on Fire Philosophy & Ritual, Safety, Tool Repair, Craft and Professionalism. (There may also be a workshop highlighting a variety of different fire hoops and build techniques. We may not have time amidst everything else to build our own fire hoops, but maybe. If not, I'm sure you can order one from a local crafter to be customized for you and ready for your arrival to NC or to be shipped to you when you return home.)

JAM ~ DANCE PARTY
Sunday night, we will have a funky, dressy, jamming hoop hop set. There will also be a pre-party, house-party for dressing and making up!

OTHER THINGS we hope to include are:
Performances by and for each other
Publicity and Marketing
Business Management and Taxes for Professionals
Teaching Techniques
Hooping with kids
Sharing Poetry and Stories
Hoop Philosophy and Spirituality

Finally, if we can manage it, and if we have enough people at Shakori Hills, I think it would be fun to try to choreograph and premier the world’s largest choreographed hoop dance! I know they would let us do it there. We just have to see if we can make it happen!

We have lots of other ideas too – Circus hooping, Native American Hoop Dance, Rhythmic Gymanastics, Hoop Yoga, integrating specific types of dance into hooping, and more – but those things may have to wait until next year … unless you know someone willing and/or able to teach! If you have an idea for a workshop, please join the Hoop Convergence Tribe and share it with us! http://tribes.tribe.net/hoopconvergence

If you would like to teach or lead a discussion panel, please post that on the Hoop Convergence tribe too or feel free to PM a description to Jewels at hoopflow@gmail.com. We will accommodate what we can given space availability and group sizes. Teaching or leading a panel will enable you to attend other workshops for free. Depending on our turnout, you will hopefully also receive compensation for your efforts. (We are still working out the estimated costs for this event but we are working to keep them reasonable. Several teachers are volunteering altogether.)

Prices and other details will follow soon. New items are being added everyday!

If you can stay through the week, festivities, workshops, discussion panels and field trips will be offered Friday through Wednesday. Then, on Thursday, we'll head over to Silk Hope for a great, family-friendly, hooper-rich, inexpensive local music festival with incredibly sweet vibes through the following Sunday!

If you can't stay through the week and for the music festival, there will be plenty of hoopy goodness happening during the weekend from Fri - Sun/Mon. Do try to stay Sunday night for a big jam and costuming pre-party though!

For more information about the Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Peace and Dance (April 17 - 20, 2008), go to: www.shakorihills.org

Again, if you are willing and able to participate in any way, please do! Your input and expertise are essential. So please join the Hoop Convergence tribe today. We hoopfully hope to hoop with you soon!

Positive thoughts for the UK

Hello all you WHD supporters from all over the Globe. Presently in the Uk we are experiencing some of the wettest June/July weather in about 20 years. I'm getting quite nervous because I have put a lot of personal effort into making the event that I have planned for sat 7th into a good day and I do not want it to be a wash out (literally!) I can only imagine that Hoopguy and all the other Uk hoop peps are all suffering from the same malady.

I guess I'm posting for a collective favour. Could you all please visualise the Uk basked in Sunlight and radiating warmth. The best time to focus on us will be the evening or day of Friday.

Venice
Windward Circle
Realistically, I'll be there between 11 and 12 pm

I need fellow hoopers
non-costumed
or
costumed,
whatever you want
come as you are
with your hoop or hoops

I need someone to bring accessible
music; something with lots of bass
and ass shaking properties
like say...good house, deep house or tribal house
(I love deeper, darker, faster forms of electronica like the 'head'
that I am, but the general public sort of lacks
the patience to listen to anything more complicated
than 4/4. So blaring psy or better yet, dark psy out of a large
sound system for hours on end in public
is not going to change that. End of story.)

Congratulations all ya International Hoopers out there !!!!

My first world hoop day was a total blast.
I took 7 hoops to the double wedding anniversary where 4 generations partied, danced and hooped all day on Napier Street.

Then some dready gal invited me over to the "phatty beats" party just on the other side of Napier St. and I caught my first TWiz house party. Total Serendipity.

Danced my ass off until 3:30am and missed the last bus home !!

(Highlight of the day was 3 yr.old Lily who insisted on giving me eskimo kisses, over and over again .... blush :-))

Wow, what a success! With a core group of 6 intrepid hoopers and about 30 hoops, we got a good 50 or so people of all ages hooping with us in Los Gatos, CA from 6:15 PM untill 8:45 when we tuckered out. Most people were brand-new to the whole idea, and we had so much fun running up to passers-by, hoop in hand, announcing, "It's World Hoop Day! Do you want to try? You should really try!" All ages were there, the kids made games with the hoops, we even had a group of <gasp> TEENAGERS hang out with us for a good hour. I gifted several hoops to kids and pointed everyone to different hooping resources including youtube, the BAH Yahoo Group, and tribe. I was especially impressed by one little girl who had never hooped much, but by the end of an hour was doing all the moves it had taken me months to master (and I use the term "master" lightly), AND rockin' the double hoops. Quite the star. Can't wait for 888! Thanks Annie for putting the idea together!

I'll be hosting WHD at the Bisbee Farmer's Market, Vista Park. I have made 33 child-size colorful-vinyl-covered 3/4-inch tubing hoops to give to children with some instruction, encouragement & a bit of literature on Hooping and where they can find out more info online. I spin almost every week at the Market because there's live music, people are familiar with me hoopdancing and I'm sure there will be a good turnout - I have been posting fliers and hand-outs and the Farmer's Market has also been promoting it...so...Get Your Hoop On, World!!

Since I was unable to contribute personally to this event in a more public place at 7am and/or 7pm .... I did so in my backyard.

My contribution - 7 minutes worth of playing around with my hula hoop. Within that time a minute or two of me attempting to hula hoop with seven hoops.

Until the video files are uploaded unedited to a location where everyone would be able to view... you'll just have to be satisfied with these photos I created:

Yes I have uploaded it to the group album here :) ENJOY!

I'm really looking forward to teaching and sharing the 170 hoops that I have made. Peace, love and joy to you all.

contribution from BodyHoops

As soon as I heard about World Hoop Day, I knew that I wanted BodyHoops to get involved as an ambassador for children. It was easy to find a group of kids that we wanted to support for this cause. Piper has been hooping for a couple of years now and has been a super addition to the BodyHoops Team. She lives in Puerta Vallarta part time. While in Mexico, Piper has enjoyed sharing the hooping experience with the local kids of her Puerta Vallarta neighborhood, here's her story.

"I was hooping outside every day, and some little girls had walked by me several times, so one day I invited them to try. My Spanish skills were lacking, and their English was no better, but I was able to demonstrate the movements with my hands, hips, and footwork.
I only had one hoop, so each girl would wait patiently, watching the other with enthusiasm.

As the week continued, the boys in the neighborhood returned every day from the soccer fields. What happened next was unexpected. Their soccer ball was put aside. The boys wanted to try!

By the second week, about ten kids were coming by, even ringing my doorbell. I still only had one hoop. I called Diana at BodyHoops to tell her about the kids, and she sent me five hoops in a rush shipment. When the hoops arrived, I set up stations. One station in our living room had the Hoop Dance Fusion DVD playing; at the last station I was there to personally help them master their new moves.

Now I'm giving classes that are 2-3 hours long. Each day when the kids arrive, I check to see that their homework is complete and that their parents know that they are in the hoop class. Most of the kids attend different schools and had never socialized with each other prior to the hoop classes. Sometimes parents and other adults come and watch. Some join in. The kids range in ages from 9-13 years of age. A total of 32 kids and their parents have experienced hooping. The DVD has been passed from home to home ."

We have decided to donate 10% of our total sales on World Hoop Day to the kids of the Puerta Vallarta Hoop group. The 10% cash value will be donated in the form of BodyHoops. Join us in our efforts, by placing an order on World Hoop Day. Just type in worldhoopday for the coupon code and to receive your 10% discount on your order. Not only do you get a great deal but you will be helping to support a fun and healthy activity for kids and adults. So remember to order some hoops next Saturday, July 7, and don't forget to get out and hoop on World Hoop Day.

check out the pix in the album folder of some of the kids in the Puerta Vallarta hoop group...

World Hoop Day Photos

Hi everyone
The day is among us. I will be collecting photos following the event for the "best of" to put into a calendar for Aug 07- Aug 08's next World Hoop Day. Ideally the photos will be of groups or kids or one favorite child trying and trying. I am also going to try to be as diverse in locations as possible.

I will need these photos by July 15th. (Yes that's only 1 week) I will edit and choose with my NY group the top 12 or more so we can put the calendar out before the end of the month. My goal is the 28th.

I'll post the calendar here and on the world hoop day site.

Thanks all of you! The proceeds of the sale will naturally go to making more hoops for more kids around the world. Next trip for me: San Carlos, Mexico.

hugs, hoops, happiness.
Annie

Re-posting details from elsewhere:

"7-7-7 is World Hoop Day! This saturday, hoopers across the world are
gathering to celebrate. Many people are distributing thousands hoops
to 'less fortunate' kids to promote fun and exercise. WE should do
some hooping! Let's spend the afternoon at Harbourfront (it's the
Breaks, Beats, and Culture festival), I will be there by 2, maybe
earlier, with a whole bunch of hoops and maybe a sign. It would be
great to have a bunch of people all rockin out on the hoop! I would
love to have 5 or 6 people hooping (on the waist...yes you can) so we
look like a fun gathering :) PLUS, great music!"

"We'll either be in the grass by the little stage, or near the water if there's space! "

Sadie is the main contact (her tribe profile: http://people.tribe.net/64eacb64-483f-4a91-a706-b0969701a916), or you can contact me I suppose, or you can just show up!

World Hoop Day in the UK

We are organising a day of Hooping in Riversley Park, Nuneaton, Warwickshire on 7th July.

On this day Riversley Park will be 100 years old !!! In other words it is 100 years to the day since the Park was donated to the Town of Nuneaton and opened for local people to enjoy.

So, our borough council are assisting with some financial backing, providing music to hoop to, a barriered area for "Fire Hooping", and other suitable extras such as an ice-cream van, etc etc.

The council are also calling this day "100 years of fun in the park" as an extra way to attract non-hoopers, so that we can convert them all into "Hoopers" !!!!

So if you live in the UK in, or near the Midlands, e.g. Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Rugby, Northampton, Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon etc then come and join us.

HoopGuy and Mel will be "Hooping" in the Nuneaton Town Centre between 10:00am and 12:00 noon, before then moving to Riversley Park for the rest of the day. So Hooping in the park officially starts at 12:00 noon and continues throughout the rest of the day.

Want to offer to help organise the event? Got suggestions to help raising money on the day? Contact me and let me know.

Where is Riversley Park, Nuneaton? Follow this link: http://tinyurl.com/3aqegn

See you there,

Detroit will be hooping it up at Comerica Cityfest on World Hoop Day. We'll be celebrating with a hand-crafted hoop donation to Alternatives for Girls (thanks to the Detroit Hoopers), a giveaway of 200 toy hoops to kids in the crowd (thanks to the New Center Council), and ... of course, a gigantic hoop jam! If you're in the area, stop by. Here's the WHD Detroit site:

http://www.worldhoopdaydetroit.com

Here's the Cityfest site.

http://www.newcenter.com/cityfest/2007/home.html

In addition to the fact that Cityfest is letting us hold a World Hoop Day event, this 5-day-long music festival that is THE place to be 4th of July week. 2007 acts include Yo La Tengo, Lupe Fiasco, Cheap Trick, Spoon, Weird Al Yankovic (I get to hula hoop to open for him -- ha!) -- and Detroit rockers like The Detroit Cobras, The Hard Lessons and electronic godfathers from Planet e like Carl Craig. Basically, if you're in the area, stop by! It's going to be a blast.
I plan to be there by noon! :)

Cross your fingers for me, as Knoxville is NOT a large hooping communitiy. I have advertised it, but if that doesn't bring in a crowd, hopefully I can draw in a crowd just by hoopin around.

We invoke the flame of Divine Inheritance to spark the fire of passion and purpose deep within the core of our Being ...

Let the sacred fire burn through the cords of limitation ... burn the ties and attachments that no longer serve our Divine purpose ...

Let the sacred fire burn through all patterns of insecurity, denial and unworthiness ...

Let the sacred fire burn through all addictive behaviors and negative patterns that have hampered us from attaining our Divine purpose and Being ...

We hereby activate the fire of our Divine Potential to see beyond our limitations so that we may fulfill and actively participate as the children of a new Earth to create a better world of love and light ...

Let that fire burn deeply within the core of our being and touch our sacred hearts with lessons that will open us to see, feel and hear, the sounds to the Source of our Being ...

Allow the passion motivation and intention of our higher selves ... our Divine Being to connect our thoughts into the higher frequencies of love and light, where Humanity's true purpose is known ...

Allow those feelings of ecstasy to ignite every cell in our body so that we shall succeed in every way, in every moment as Divine Beings of Light ...

And in wholeness of Spirit we shall begin to walk the walk, to speak our truth, and begin to actively participate in creating the reality around us ... a new Earth ...

Let us heal the war between our heads and our hearts ... betwen our ego and spirit ... so there will be no more wars between our neighbours and nations ...

Let us heal our own pain and anger ... so there will be no more violence but only love ...

Let us release all our lost expectations ... so we may walk in the beauty of the Present Moment ...

---

We call upon the power within these prayers to ignite the sacred flame within our physical bodies and empower our every action to succeed to our greatest and highest potential of love and light ...

And from this moment forward we invoke the greatest amount of healing, expansion and enlightenment that the All-That-Is will allow unto us ...

Peace be with you ... Always, now, and every moment ...

From the sacred hearts of our souls ... We gift these words to you with unconditional love ...

So Be It

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i had a 2 hr float tank session on Saturday ... nothing much exciting to report other than the spiralling/spinning effect as normal before i vanish ... over an hour of the 2hr session i did not exist ... gone ... no memory ... zip ... zilch ... i was nothing .... pure nothing .... sometimes i wish i could stay there ... what came out of it ... was a drive to write a prayer for 777 ... i had prayer all over me getting out of the tank ... only a few days before Sharon/WDestiny sent thru the below link ....

so rather than re-invent the wheel ... i took what was a perfect prayer IMHO... and with some editing and addition of my own words ...

Hoops for Haiti ~ detailed fund-raising/event plan

‘Hoops for Haiti’ ~ Purpose and Fund-raising Event details

MY MISSION ~ GETTING HOOPS TO AN ORPHANAGE IN FONDWA, HAITI

A few months ago, I decided to travel to Haiti with a local organization, Family Health Ministries, to spend time with an orphanage. My goal was to carry lots of tubing and tape to make armloads of hoops for the kids there. When I wrote in my tribe blog about the trip, I received a tremendous amount of response and even encouragement to have a fundraiser for my adventure. Luckily, there was a community of people here who were moved enough by the idea that I received a lot of assistance and donations. We ended up hosting a pretty spectacular event for the entire community that supported my journey.

The “Hoops for Haiti” event had 2 bands, a raffle, silent auction, hoop sales booth, extra hoops for guests to use and ended with a fire show. It was free to the public and well attended by folks of all ages. This is just one possibility for an event, but Hoopin’ Annie wanted me to outline my experience in hopes that it may provide some inspiration or assistance to those planning their own events.

First, I must thank so many individuals that helped me out in a variety of ways. I have so much gratitude for individuals in the hoop path tribe (students in Baxter’s hoop class), the queen of the silent auction – Natalie, many local hoopers and fire spinners, friends, my family, musicians, local businesses, artists, kids and all the folks who came out to play and support. If you are planning a World Hoop Day event, I propose recruiting volunteers so that tasks may be divided. If you are planning alone, take care to not overwhelm yourself. Plan something manageable so that folks, including you, can enjoy the festivities. There were so many folks from The Hoop Path tribe and other local hoop enthusiasts gathering tables, decorating them, working the raffle, silent auction, making announcements, inspiring, dancing and hooping. I didn’t even work a table but still had only brief moments to play during the event.

Also in my favor was the undeniable impact hooping has had on this small community. Spiral & I started bringing hoops out to a favorite local event 6 summers ago. Over these years, hooping has grown and evolved so tremendously here in the Carrboro/Chapel Hill area. Thus, local businesses and individuals who had experienced hoop joy or knew folks that hooping had touched were seemingly eager to donate gift certificates, artwork, money and time for this event.

This event plan is not meant to overwhelm. This is one model, an experiment , that raised $2000 to get me and hoop supplies to Fondwa, Haiti. I was completely amazed that we raised double the original goal and were able to donate close to $1000 to a much needed food fund for the orphanage. While I was there, I lead a few days of playful instruction with the kids and helped them decorate hoops. We also painted the inside of the orphanage which really brightened the place. On my next visit, I hope to take more folks who are passionate about music, movement, hooping and experienced sustainable gardeners to work with a garden project that has been requested by those who run the orphanage. It is important to me to continue to nourish and strengthen the relationships and connections made with the people there through expressive movement and rhythms. It’s so fulfilling to be able to spread the joyful, healing benefits of hooping while also addressing specific sustainability needs of a group or community.

While I was Fondwa, I got to re-visit the school I had worked with on my previous trip to Haiti when I went to learn about and work with a re-forestation project in Silhoe. However, I knew I would want to hoop with local kids. So I took suppies and constructed hoops over a camp-fire. The local school arranged for an assembly where I demonstrated and had other folks try their new toys. Upon my most recent visit, the head of the school, Pastor Duress, arranged for another brief assembly where a child from each grade demonstrated some hoop moves. Pastor Duress - also a farmer of cacao and coffee that is to die for - said the hoops had provided a great outlet and stress relief for the kids. The hoops had brought them smiles and laughs while helping them to move more freely. These were some of my most moving hoop moments to date…

(I will be posting a video clip of a day at the orphanage as well as more writings. If anyone is interested in learning more about Haiti or this particular project, write me…)

EVENT OUTLINE
Here I have compiled some important aspects of the planning for the “Hoops for Haiti” event in case you are trying to organize a fund-raising event in your own town.

1) Set a goal: Imagine what you are trying to accomplish. Are you giving away hoops to everyone who comes? Are you trying to raise money to make hoops for a school or organization? How many hoops? Are you trying to raise enough money to send an ambassador to another location to distribute hoops? Or are you just trying to create an atmosphere where folks can really enjoy some hooping on this day or be introduced to hooping? Be clear with yourself what your goal is and how much money it will require. Then cater your event accordingly.

2) Space: Secure a space that will comfortably host your event. I checked out several spaces that would be cheap or free before I decided on the Town Commons in Carrboro. With its expansive, grassy, outdoor space, cheap price and great location, it proved to be a wonderful spot for a hoop gathering. If I had had more time to plan, I may have been able to get the space rental donated by the town. It’s worth inquiring. You may be able to get local support for a free location. Local parks and schools may be other possibilities for hosting an event. The only drawback of our spot was that there were no public bathrooms! There were ones in walking distance, but still an important factor to settle ahead of time.

3) Music: Some of my very dear friends are musicians and were willing to play for free for this event. We had two bands: one geared more towards the kids – danceable with positive lyrics, the Jimmy Magoo band - and one instrumental jazz/funk improvisational band. It was so great to see folks dancing with and without the hoops all day! Drum circles, DJs or interesting music compilations could inspire the crowd!

4) Admission: I did not charge admission, but made the event open to the public so anyone could enjoy the festivities. The space was pretty central so folks who were walking through town could hear the music and stop in if they wanted. If you have a space that has an obvious entrance point, you may be able to charge a small admission to raise funds for your hoop drive. It was important to me that the fundraising event served as a uniting celebration of the local community while raising money for me to travel to Haiti with hoops. I’m glad many folks enjoyed hooping for the first time and could immediately understand my desire to take the hoop joy abroad.

5) Raffle: One of the easiest parts of this fund-raiser was the Raffle. We included 2 dinner gift certificates (one donated by a previous employer of mine and one donated by a local hoop madre) worth enough that folks were willing to throw a few bucks in for the chance. Also, in the raffle were donated gift certificates for hair cuts, coffee and a deluxe handmade hoop. Raffle tickets were $3 for 1 or $5 for 2. I brought a BIG jar and paper with blanks for name, email address, phone number (so that they didn’t have to be present to win.) So many raffle tickets were sold it was difficult to fit them into the jar! Folks had to start writing their names and contact info on notebook paper. We announced the winners towards the end of the event. (I stocked up on change for this particular part.) If I were organizing an event with little assistance, this is one of the easiest things to do. You need a decent prize, someone to take money and a big vessel. If I couldn’t get a donation, but expected a decent turnout, I would consider buying a gift certificate to raffle. What we brought in would have covered the cost of both the dinners included plus a decent amount of hoop supplies.

6) Silent Auction: I was amazed at how many local healers, artists, businesses and community members donated items for the silent auction. There were massages, paintings, jewelry, energy work, yoga & hooping class passes, signed UNC basketball, ceramic dishes, private hoop lessons and more. I felt a little awkward soliciting and asking others to solicit donations. However, at the event, folks were coming to me asking if they could donate next time! I learned that it makes some people feel good to give to good causes. Plus, it does get their name out there to possibly get more business. It’s kind of a win-win situation. Natalie –a local hoop goddess - was the queen of the silent auction. Without her, I don’t know how it would have gone. She created beautiful sheets listing the item for bid, suggested retail amount, giver/artist and blanks for bids. She also wrote up a letter for donations including the mission of the event including the tax ID # of Family Health Ministries so that folks could solicit donations without having to say much. You could leave these requests with businesses or even send them out as in emails. In fact, I did receive both cash and donations for the silent auction through an email announcing the project.

7) Hoop Sales Booth: Two wonderful women (Natalie and Kathie) along with myself, made hoops to sale. One third of the proceeds went to the cause, while the other two thirds went towards materials and labor. This was the least effective part of the event, but it was good to have them available. It also reminded folks this is a handmade hoop revolution and that there are local crafters.

8) Donations: With a 501c3 tax ID #, folks can donate money and write these donations off on their taxes. Receipts are not required under $150.

9) Speaker/MC: This is one piece of the event that I would improve if I could repeat. Public speaking isn’t my strongest attribute, but I did explain why I was going to Haiti and why I thought it was important for me to take hoops. However, I neglected to inform folks about some key things. Oh well – a learning experience for all!

10) Fire Show: At the close of the event, we had a fire show for the folks who stayed through the sunset. A few of my friends and I put together a very loosely structured series of burns including fire staffs, poi and hoops. It was a great close to the evening. (Thank you - Ali Cat, Allison and Patrick for dancing with me!)

11) Publicity: Local radio stations, fliers, event calendars in local papers, personal email lists. I think the most effective publicizing for my event was through personal connections – the email chain! I would love some feedback on this part - if people have insights. I think this was my weakest piece. We had a nice turnout, but we had room to accommodate many more.

12) Thank you poster: I made a large sign to post on an easel giving thanks to all the individuals and businesses who donated time, services, money to make the event a success.

13) Instruction: I didn’t have a formal instruction segment of the event, but think it is a valuable piece to add. There was so much going on that we left it more free form. I found myself giving some casual instruction to encourage the disbelievers that they could, in fact, hoop. It was really valuable that there are so many good local hoopers to inspire others to move try.

14) Hoops for Haiti posters: I work with kids so I had them paint a big sign that said “Hoops for Haiti,” and some smaller ones directing folks to “Raffle,” “Hoops for Sale,” “Silent Auction,” and “Welcome” tables.

15) Hoop Construction: I considered having a hoop wrapping or construction station, but thought it would add too much chaos. However, this could be one of the main pieces of a “world hoop day” event. I’d thought of charging x amount to cover supplies + perhaps a couple of bucks to go towards expense of event (again all depends on your personal project and overhead expenses.) If you have enough hands or can help instruct parents, you can put out lots of tape (I recommend only vinyl for this) and kid friendly scissors and let them decorate their own. This is an activity I have lead at many schools and after-school programs over the years so that many kids could get affordable hoops. The wrapping techniques come more easily to some than others, but I have had even 5 year olds beautifully stylize their own rings. With parents present, it should be much less stressful and the finished projects would, hopefully, have all the sticky side of the tape facing the tubing! (I can answer other questions about this activity if needed. I have broken down cost per hoop for smaller kids’ hoops and adult hoops wrapped in vinyl for these programs. I also believe there are certain wrap styles and techniques that are easier than others for kids to follow and execute.)

Random tips and things to have on hand:
Lots of pens/pencils/paper
Tape
Tables
Pretty fabric
Volunteers
Water (We had a cooler with ice and bottles of water and a box for donations.)
Hoops for folks to play with
I displayed pictures from my last trip to Haiti on an information table with a sign in book (I wish I had written up why I wanted email lists – for future events or follow up of travels)
Cameras/Video cameras – photographers
Power (Luckily there were power sources available here. Extension cords are always handy.)

For the moment to moment discussions working out the details of this event, look for “Hoops for Haiti” in the archives of “The Hoop Path” tribe. For specific questions, feel free to contact me directly here on tribe. Hopefully, I haven’t forgotten any major details…

Much love, success and joy to everyone in the planning of their events. It’s going to be wonderful to see pictures and hear stories of lots of local events celebrating the hoop movement!

I'm a big fan of hooping in Ravena Park. It has sunny and shaded spots. Plus it's huge! There is one selfish reason too, i live accrossed the street. However my apartment has a large pattio so we could do a potluck and never really have to go far, and those on a budget wouldn't have to spend money eatting out. I know that many might want to meet on Capital Hill where the weekly hooping happens, but that hood gets hooping all the time so it might be nice to share the joy with another part of the city. (plus it's easier to find parking)
So what do you think do I need to sell it more, because i can?

Preparing the Chrystal for Harmonic Shift 777

the message we bring you is simple ... if we make it any simpler it will
become the more complicated by your ego's doing ...

you are on the edge of a planetary awakening .... propelled by your inner
transformations ... as you open your hearts to the love that birthed you ...
you will shift into a frequency of now-ness where the all resides ... as the
allowance of the expression of love comes into alignment ... and spirit
reaches critical mass ... igniting .. firing the neural-net grid of a new
earth and consciousness ....the spirit of your eternal awareness will
re-enter completely ...into the soul family called humanity ...

those that do not become a resonating instrument unto the waves of love
peace and harmony now coming upon the shores of your souls will find
themselves in confusion chaos and disintegration ... unable to draw
sustenance which can only come from love ....

as Earth's biological circuitry is adjusted and re-calibrated in readyness
and healing for the new expanded awareness and concsiousness entering so to
is the circuitry of your biological embodiment ... as the shifts and
adjustments occur you may at times find yourself dis-orientated and your
energy levels surging and then fluctuating before coming into balance and
resonance ...

as the tectonic plates shift into harmonic alignment ... so do your blood
platelets ... shift into crystal resonance and alignment ... please
understand ... you are not the consiousness of spirit contained therein and
residing in a biological spacesuit .... rather your biological spacesuit
exists within the spirit of consciousness ... the all-that-is ... you do not
flow into the all-that-is .... but rather the all-that-is flows into and
through you ... the ocean comes into the drop of water ... and not the drop
of water unto the ocean ... to simplify ...

THE ALL-THAT-IS FLOWS AND EXPRESSES THROUGH YOU ... THIS IS THE PURPOSE AND
DESIGN OF CREATION ... YOU DO NOT FLOW AND EXPRESS THROUGH THE ALL-THAT-IS
...

so be an instrument of love ..peace and harmony ... and you will know no
limits and no lack of abundance .... as you will be fulfilled ...

you will not come to access new forms of limitless energy and pure
anti-gravity until your Earth's biocrystal core has been recalibrated and
re-aligned ... with the universal streams of light and love which you are
now coming into resonance with as it was prior the impact .... the dark
night of the soul is now coming into the daylight of spirit ... when the
alignment is complete you will begin to access new codes of higher density
... and new technological advances will come into fruition which are aligned
with love and spirit ... it is then your pyramids of crystal design will be
unearthed .. re-discovered and re-activated ... for they were designed and
placed upon your earth prior the fall and forgetting ...

the electrons of your atoms ... do not move about an orbit as you have been
taught ... the movement perceived is an illusion ... for there is no
movement ... but only vibration ... a frequency pulsing in and out of matter
... in and out of the seen and unseen ... due to the mis-aligned nature of
your earth's crystal core grid ... your consciousness only perceives
half-light harmonics .... thus giving the illusion of perception that
electrons are moving around the orbit of a nucleius ...

in coming to understand this you will real-eyes how powerful you truelly are
... for all that is required is a shift in thought and focus powered by pure
love and intent ... and what you now define as miracles will become the norm
and mainstream ... and so it will come to be in your time soon ... you will
be the chrystal in chryst ...

your spirit does not end with your ego ... it extends unto unlimitness ...
when one part moves all parts move for there are no moving parts ... but
only a shift of awareness driven by allowance ... acceptance ... and love
.... for all that is expressed ... unconditionally ...

there is coming a moment in your now where all will come into alignment with
their chosen destinies .... as the universal energies and frequencies
increase so to does your awareness from your greater selves ....

when you speak the unspoken ... speak with hope and promise ...
when you embrace the unembraced ... embrace with love ..
when you hear the unheard ... listen with an open heart ...
when you move the unmoved ... move with and in joy ..

for joy marks the path of least resistance ... here is where love flows
unimpeded ... here is the key to transformation ...

give more than you take ... be the unbeing ...

for those who wish to assist in this global and personal transformation ...
inclusive to the above ... all we ask further is one simple task ... and
upon your fulfillment of this one task ... you relinquish all the rest to us
in the unseen .... we will take care of the rest ... you need not concern
yourselves with the mechanics and constructs of how we are to accomplish
this .... do not question how this is possible ... for all things are
possible ... otherwise you will be lost in the incomprehension and it will
become a distraction ...

what be this one task you ask!

simply .... allow your hearts to be one with us and one with each other and
all life ... this unto itself will give us strength and in return and
reflection will give you strength for we are all one ... this one simple
task will make all the difference ... is this too much to ask of a heavy
hearted and burdened humanity?

release your burdens ... release your fears ... release your ocean of tears
for their salted warmth will melt frozen hearts ..... release your worries
and concerns ... release your anger and hatred ... let go of all image and
form ... let go of all prejudice and bias ... in releasing .. you will allow
the all-that-is to flow unimpeded ... unrestricted .... allowing all
potentials to be expressed ... let go without expectation of outcomes ...
for if you knew how to accomplish the desired outcome ... it would be a
burden in the first place ...

you breathe the air we breathe ... you are made of the same starlight we are
made from ...

simply give us your hearts completely ... and be a human symphony of
instruments channeling and orchestrating our love ... the spirit of your
hearts were designed to allow and express love peace and joy ... to flow
through you unconditionally ... your hearts were not designed to be
containers holding /witholding your burdens be they polarised or restricted
... for doing so will result in ill-ness rather than now-ness ...

your one and only purpose here is to express who you are .... and if that
expression is not in and with love ... then you are still seeking out your
purpose ...

release your hearts and allow others to release their hearts regardless of
their burdens and judgements ...

this simple act ... can be done at any moment and forever in your time ...
it does not need to await the harmonic shift of 777 ...

for the harmonic shift 777 we ask that you do the same above but in
gratitude and rememberance of a new earth and humanity ... we ask that you
... for one hour in your time ... be next to a tree ... hug a tree ... and
release your heart and burdens unto us ... for those unable to hug a tree
... we ask that you take one leaf from a tree or take a flower .. and as you
do ... give love and gratitude to mother earth ... wear this leaf or flower
over your heart ... or in your shirt pocket ... or simply hold it in your
hand .... which ever you are comfortable with ...

for those who play the numbers ... be aware the quality of intent of
participation is the quotient factor and not the quantity ... one person in
pure focused love and intent is equivalent to 1000 who are not ...

the leaf or flower ... will be the symbol of 777 ... it will resemble the
letting go and the release of your burdens ... it will resemble the flowing
tears from your hearts .... with the flood gates opening and allowing pure
unconditional love to pour and surge through every fibre of your being ...

it is only a choice and the choice is yours ....

join us this day in your time ...

we will carry you like a fire in our hearts ...
World Hoop Day Detroit

Although Detroit's World Hoop Day has been coming together for a while, there are aspects of it that are still up in the air (which is why no official plans have been posted). But FYI -- because people in Ohio were looking for somewhere to go -- Detroit will definitely be hosting some hoop-la if you want to head north. *Part* of our day will be a community hoop jam at Cityfest, a 5-day-long, annual music festival in the D. It will probably happen around 3 p.m. because that's what's looking like it works with the festival's schedule.

The 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. parts are still in the works. Stay tuned.

Where to host World Hoop Day?

Hi! I'm in MN and starting the preparations for 07/07/07, and I have no idea where to host this event! I'd love to get all the hoopers in one spot, and I looked at the Mpls Park and Recreation information online, and it seems they want liability insurance, etc...they want to know if we'll be selling merchandise or services, and want 10% for non-profit, 20% for profit, and a bunch of other info that overwhelms my poor little ADD brain, lol. Can someone give advice...someone who has put on a hoop-gathering? Is a public park not the best place to do it? What sort of large, open spaces have worked for you?

I wish it were less complicated: just show up with hoops and music and hoop the day away!!! :)

Thanks for any guidance you can offer!

My First PDF!

Hello all you beautiful, dancing, hugging, loving, giving, happy people! I'm going to my first PDF (Playa Del Fuego) which will also be my first real burn. I have a bunch of friends going, but I had this idea that I might want to camp with a bunch of (or a few) total strangers! (Or even folks I only kinda know from around the scene but dont really "know") It would be a great way to immediately make new connections and spread the love. I could also camp alone to me more autonomous, but as a first-timer I thought it wise to be with a few folks with some experience.

Even if I do end up camping alone, I'm also looking for a ride there (and back) from NYC (or Brooklyn). What better way to turn Burner strangers into new Burner friends than a road trip!

Here's my Tribe.net page to find out a tiny bit more about me:

http://people.tribe.net/Schmactor

or reply here and ask me whatever to get to know me. I can tell you I am an extremely fun, no-hassle, chill, and creative person to be with and also quite handy in many many ways.

So if you have some room and an adventurous spirit, give me a shout as soon as possible.

Much Love and Joy,

Hooping.org has been restructured, redesigned and relaunched and I invite you all to stop by and check it out. There's more information about what's been going on posted there, and now that I'm doing this solo as well (Vera stepped down in February) I'd also like to invite you all to contribute your writing, photos, thoughts, videos and more. I welcome your talent and input in keeping this almost four-year-old world-wide community hooping project alive.
Peace!
